BT and Tate Modern announce new 'FOCUS ON ART' Award
Which
Art award is worth more money than the prestigious
Turner Prize and will help a number of young artists
develop their ICT skills?
BT,
in partnership with Tate Modern, is offering a fantastic
£25,000 Schools Award this term to a project which
takes an innovative approach to using ICT to teach
Art. As
well as monetary support, BT will offer an artist
or educator to work with the winners of the Art award
to help define the outline of the project and to guide
pupils in their work.
This
award brings together two of BT's key sponsorship
areas, Education and the Arts for the first time.
BT sponsors the Tate Modern Collection displays and
Tate Online ( www.tate.org.uk
).
The
closing date for applications for this and other Schools
Awards is February 8, 2002. All schools throughout
the UK are eligible and there are two £25,000 awards
and 10 awards of £5,000 available each term. Schools
interested in entering the awards should log on to
the website at www.bt.com/education
for more information and to apply.
Richard
Hamer, programme co-ordinator, said: "BT is proud
to be associated with the Tate and delighted to be
able to offer this exceptional award for schools.
Promoting the use of ICT in Art is a step towards
the future and will no doubt help to encourage both
creative and technology skill development"
The
BT Schools Awards are part of the BT Education Programme,
which invests more than £8 million a year into education
in the UK.
