VEGA creates web-based training solution for Japan Airliness

VEGA Group PLC (VEGA) is developing a new web-based Traffic Collision and Avoidance System program for Japan Airlines (JAL).

JAL is Japan’s biggest international airline and operates in excess of 130 aircraft comprising a range of different aircraft types, each fleet being carefully selected to match their different operations on their domestic and international routes. Japan Airlines’ training centre is fully equipped with an impressive range of training devices, including the highest fidelity Full Flight Simulators. These combined with Japan Airlines’ own experienced team of Instructors, means that the airline can provide an immediate and effective response to training requirements.

The VEGA program offers a total TCAS training solution and covers knowledge acquisition and testing, as well as practical ‘hands on’ manoeuvring simulation scenarios and a dual language capability.

VEGA’s Windows© based TCAS II Version 7 program, which will be formally released in April of this year, has been developed in browser format to interface with JAL’s Lotus Learning Space 5 Learning Management System (LMS) and allows the program to be launched from any Web Based LMS. The program has been developed in accordance with AICC AGR-010 (Web-based CMI Systems) HACP data requirements and will fully comply with FAA AC120-55A guidelines

The program can be configured for a wide range of aircraft types. JAL’s version of the program will feature 13 manoeuvring simulation scenarios to support realistic training of its comprehensive aircraft fleet which includes B777, B767, B747-400, B737-400 B747-200 and MD11. The manoeuvring simulation scenarios have already been delivered to JAL and are now in active service.

The agreement with JAL represents another success story in the Asia-Pacific region for VEGA, which already has one of the highest number of Asian-based clients for aviation based training solutions.

Mr. Toshitake Kawashima, Senior Director Ground Training Office Flight Crew Training commented: "We required a TCAS training solution that was perfectly aligned to our own specific training objectives, both technically and operationally. “We were already confident in VEGA as a reputable training provider and certainly during our negotiations VEGA demonstrated flexibility in their approach by working with us to create an innovative and practical solution. The results speak for themselves, we are already training with the manoeuvring simulations which were delivered by VEGA in eleven weeks.”

Martin Blomley, Director of VEGA Group PLC commented: "From VEGA’s perspective our agreement with Japan Airlines is particularly significant. “Whilst we have a comprehensive portfolio of readily available aviation training programs, this development has yet again enabled VEGA to demonstrate and prove its major strengths in uniquely combining capability, knowledge and technology in response to each individual client’s business needs”.
