Pfizer Launches 'Science is Fun' Website
Pfizer has announced the launch of the pharmaceutical
company’s ‘Science is Fun’ website in support of Science
Year. Primary school teachers across the UK are invited
to take pupils through site’s virtual tour to demonstrate
the excitement of science.
John
Adams, Academic Liaison Manager at Pfizer, says he
hopes the website will show teachers, children and
their parents that science can be fun: “It is important
to engage young children in science before they leave
primary school. The website is one of the contributions
Pfizer is making to help teachers make science interesting,
stimulating and relevant for the children”.
The
website at www.pfizerscienceisfun.org.uk
features six short films taken from the company’s
recent ‘Pfascinating Pfizer Science Jamboree’. The
video clips cover topics including The Heart, Biology,
Chromatography, Engineering and Chemistry. Each section
features a number of different experiments, with detailed
information to aid teachers and viewers.
Libraries
across the country are advertising the website as
part of their ‘Frontiers’ initiative for Science Year.
This will encourage children and their parents to
get involved in the fun too!
Baroness
Ashton, Minister for Schools with responsibility for
Science Year, appears on the website. ”A big part
of Science Year’s success is due to our vital partnerships
with businesses such as Pfizer, who have shown such
generosity in their support of Science Year initiatives,”
she said. “I want Science Year to create a lasting
legacy, which makes a difference in attitudes towards
science, inside and outside of the classroom. We cannot
create such a legacy without the support of these
key business partners”.
Science Year seeks to highlight the many creative
opportunities that exist in the workplace today for
young people with a science qualification, together
with the importance and the impact that science has
on our everyday lives. For more information visit
