Electric Paper launches online assessment tool
Electric Paper, a Dublin based e-learning company
with offices in Harrow, Middlesex, has launched Net
assess, an online, interactive assessment tool
to test IT literacy skills.
Net
assess offers assessment items in seven areas
of computing: basic concepts of IT; using the computer
and managing files; word processing; spreadsheets;
databases; presentations; the Internet and email.
As well as assessing individuals’ skill levels it
can also be used as an examination tool to test students
who have completed IT training courses.
According to Electric Paper’s Ingrid O’Sullivan: “Net
assess can be used as a training needs analysis
tool enabling the user to pinpoint areas of strength
– which require little training – as well as weaker
areas where IT skills need to be developed. Users
can then plan their study programme, ensuring that
they are concentrating on topics that need the most
work. On the other hand it can provide a method of
identifying the effectiveness of training carried
out and of evaluating the return on investment."
“Moreover, Net assess can be used in the recruitment
process to assess applicants’ IT skill levels objectively;
supplying immediate, consistent and accurate evaluations
that greatly reduce the time and resources needed
to administer and mark assessments,” she added.
The College of Business at Colorado State University
has been using net assess as an examination tool on
the completion of an IT Literacy course in conjunction
with other Electric Paper-produced training materials
on CD-ROM.
