Organics On-Line
Duchy Originals, the organic food company founded
by The Prince of Wales, has launched a brand new website
geared to schools
Designed
to provide sound educational information about organic
farming, the site is especially suited to 8 to 12
year olds working on Key Stages two and three. www.duchyoriginals.com
is an easy to use, detailed website, giving a beginner's
guide to organic farming and food production, covering
its history, processes and philosophy.
Designed with teachers in mind, the site provides
teaching materials which include quizzes and challenges
about organic farming. Children can then use the site
to research the tasks. All materials are regularly
updated and can be downloaded free of charge.
Educational
features include David's Diary, an account
of farm manager David Wilson's experiences at the
organic Home Farm at Highgrove; The Cycle of Life,
which looks at how the balance of nature contributes
to the health and productivity of the farm; and Where
Does My Food Come From?, a section which looks
at how organic food is grown on the farm and made
into one of the Duchy Originals products in a factory.
Duchy Originals is one of the UK's leading organic
food brands. It was founded by The Prince of Wales
because of his belief in the clear advantages of organic
farming: the production of natural and healthy foods
and sound husbandry which helps to regenerate and
protect the countryside.
All
profits from the company go to The Prince of Wales's
Charitable Foundation. Since its establishment, the
company has raised over £1.3 million for The Foundation.
