Bnet Offers Free Access To Support Adult Learners
Week
Lifelong learning support resource Bnet ( www.bnet.co.uk
) is offering free access to its online business and
management library to support adult learners participating
in Adult Learners Week 2002.
The
free access offer to Bnet is open until the end of
Adult Learners Week (ALW) 2002, which runs from 11-17
May. ALW is being run by NIACE (The National Institute
of Adult Continuing Education - www.niace.org.uk
- in England) and NIACE Dysgu Cymru ( www.niacedc.org.uk
) in Wales, which both work to promote the study and
general advancement of adult continuing education.
This
year marks the celebration of a decade of learning
activities through ALW and will be marked by exciting
events in town centres, shopping centres, libraries,
pubs, schools and colleges. Festivals, taster classes,
street theatre and roadshows will give everyone the
opportunity to get a taste for learning at a time,
pace and place that suits. Bnet is designed to support
all of these self-paced learning activities which
have a business, management or self development component
and has the advantage of always being 'open for learning'
on a 24x7 basis.
NIACE chose Bnet as a partner in its activities because
of the closeness of fit between NIACE's objectives
and Bnet's reputation as a quality lifelong learning
resource, uniquely organised and carefully compiled
to enable learners to gain fast and easy access to
quality learning materials in the business and management
subject area.
With
materials contributed to Bnet from sources such as
the DTI, The Open University Business School, The
Chartered Management Institute (formerly the Institute
of Management), the Cranfield Case Clearing House
(ECCH) and The Work Foundation (formerly The Industrial
Society), Bnet is a unique resource of quality management
learning.
Categorised into over 700 subject areas (which can
be accessed through an intuitive, visually-appealing
navigation system), Bnet is a powerful learning support
tool, empowering learners to meet their learning aims.
All
adult learners participating in ALW 2002 ( www.niace.org.uk/ALW/2002/
) need to do to take advantage of the Bnet free access
facility up to and throughout ALW is to type in the
Bnet internet address ( www.bnet.co.uk
) into their web browser and use the following username
and password details when prompted:
- username: adult
- password: learner
Online
learners will be encouraged to sign up for Bnet e-newsletters,
which are designed to provide 'bite-sized' information
on particular areas of business and management that
are of interest to them. These are delivered on a
regular basis to their e-mail accounts, allowing prior
learning derived from the Bnet library to be consolidated.
