Aon
Ltd receives Industry Award for e-learning initiative
Aon Limited Corporate Division has been awarded the
prestigious British Insurance Award for Training 2002
for its e-learning platform ‘RoPE’ – Record of Professional
Excellence - which was developed jointly with Aon’s
learning partners the Unicorn Training Partnership
and Professional Development Online (PDOL).
The
‘RoPE’ system is underpinned by PDOL’s ‘Studyserve’
learning management system and is currently being
used to deliver and track Unicorn-developed technical
insurance e-learning and competence assessments to
1,200 staff throughout the Corporate Division.
Future
plans for RoPE include the delivery of induction,
IT and regulatory training, together with skills audits,
competency management and online continuous professional
development (CPD).
Roger
Harrison, Associate Director of Aon Corporate, said:
“I am absolutely delighted that Aon Corporate Division
won this important award against high quality opposition.
It is a result of two great partnerships - internally
within Aon Corporate at all levels and externally
between Aon and partners Unicorn and PDOL.The
approach of both Unicorn and PDOL is refreshingly
professional with an innovative touch: they understand
what they are doing and this has resulted in the successful
outcome of RoPE. “
"RoPE
provides a framework that meets real business needs
of managing complex technical and non technical learning
and development matters in an ever changing environment
- both in terms of our market and also regulation.
“Successful training is likely to be a blend of delivery
methods with employees taking responsibility for their
own development - RoPE helps us manage this.”
Peter
Phillips, CEO of Unicorn, commented: “We are delighted
that Aon have won this award as what they have sought
to deliver to their learners and their method of doing
so is truly innovative. They have taken a lead in
their industry and it is right that this has been
recognised.”
